Where do I start, well l own an electro-acoustic and the problem I find is when you have a preamp fitted it's difficult to get the true sound of the guitar so I took a chance and purchased this passive soundhole pickup, easy to install and now I only have to use the amp control's to get the true sound, this a good piece of kit for the money, pure sound and no feedback or interference, glad I took the chance and I'm not disappointed at all.

Number 4 is

Silenceban™ portable Acoustic Guitar Pickup RPR price £20

The guitar pickup is a good solid piece of kit and excellent value for the money. It is very quick and simple to fit and remains firmly in place when fitted. The sound quality and balance of sound between strings are excellent, particularly when the guitar played through a good quality amplifier. It is easy to adjust the position of the pickup to ensure that the individual sensors align perfectly with the position of each string. The cable is a useful length. The quality of the pickup exceeded my expectations. I am very pleased with it.

Fitting this was so easy, I have quite a few guitars but don't really work on any of them much, I just play them, so fitting this was quite novel for me. I fitted this to my daughter's guitar so she could use it with practice amps. I wasn't really expecting all that much but to be fair I think this would be fit for stage use as long as you kept it away from the microphone (it doesn't hum at all but leave your strings ringing and you can get a feedback loop) but if you wanted to try your hand at gigging this would be a great step in the right direction if you wanted to convert your acoustic. you may have to drill your guitar strap button with a 12/13mm hole to fit this inside the guitar but it works perfectly and looks fantastic. It really was very easy to fit, sounds great and looks great, great build quality. For value for money its a 10/10, sure you can get better pickups but you're paying 3-5 times what this costs.

Seymour Duncan Woody HC™RPR £54.99

This is a great product. I have found the sound quality is good enough for the price. Only one minor drawback for me is that the cable is too long for use with a radio transmitter pack and I need to use an adaptor to take it to a 1/8 the jack and it is a little short if plugging straight into an amp when doing live work. So long as you are aware of this, I would recommend.

Fishman Neo-D Magnetic Soundhole Acoustic Pickup RPR £35

Review

I have used many types of pickup over the years on my acoustic guitars. I like this best as a good balance between getting a clear realistic sound and avoiding feedback. The humbucker version is too snotty: why make your acoustic sound like an electric? This one only hums if you stand too close to your amp. Warning, though, it sticks up 6mm from the guitar so you must have at least 8mm from the wood around the soundhole to the bottom of the lowest string - or it will buzz when you strum hard.
